Back Yard Fun With Butterflies

have you seen a butterfly today?

Why do think I have a lemon tree in my backyard?   Is it for the lemons or for what the tree can attract?

Actually the lemon tree is both for my enjoyment and the for the butterflies it attracts.   Here you can see a Giant swallowtail has been attracted to the lemon tree and is depositing eggs on the leaves.  Why do you think the butterfly mom would do this?

The Giant Swallow tail butterfly is laying eggs on the lemon tree because this is what her babies will need to grow and become adult butterflies.

I thought a cool photo of Giant Swallowtail flying thru the air.   It is almost as if she notices me taking her photo.  She's looking at me?

I stood outside for several minutes observing this large beautiful Giant Swallowtail circling the lemon plant and depositing her eggs.
